Our Faculty and Staff
Chesterton Academy of Atlanta is blessed with a dedicated and faithful faculty committed to the mission of the school. Each member of our faculty is a practicing Catholic and makes the Oath of Fidelity to the Magisterium. Our faculty members play a vital role in forming students intellectually, morally, and spiritually and are responsible for providing excellent instruction, fostering a love of truth and learning, and cultivating in students the virtues necessary for a life of holiness and authentic freedom. Through their example, teaching, and mentorship, our faculty seeks not only to educate students but also to help form them into young men and women who know, love, and faithfully serve Christ.
Mr. Taylor Bettencourt
Headmaster
Mr. Bettencourt holds a Bachelor of Arts in History and Philosophy as well as Master of Arts in Philosophy with a concentration in Bioethics from the Franciscan University of Steubenville and a Master of Arts in Humanities with a concentration in Classical Education from the University of Dallas. In addition to his responsibilities as Headmaster, he also teaches senior philosophy.
Ms. Niki Mallinak
Theology
Ms. Mallinak holds a Bachelor of Arts in Theology and a Master of Theological Studies from the Franciscan University of Steubenville. She currently teaches freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior theology.
Ms. Alexandra Pass
Director of Academic Advising
Ms. Pass holds a Bachelor of Science in Family, Youth, and Community Science from the University of Florida and a Master of Science in Higher Education and Student Affairs Administration from Canisius College. She serves Director of Academic Advising and assists students in academic success and college counseling.
Mr. Alex Warren
Philosophy
Mr. Warren holds a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from the University of Georgia. He currently teaches freshman, sophomore, and junior philosophy as well as freshman Euclidean Geometry.
Mr. Jeremy Johnston
Latin
Mr. Johnston holds a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts in Theology from Ave Maria University and is also completing his Doctoral degree in Moral Theology at Ave Maria. He currently teaches freshman, sophomore, and junior latin.
Mrs. Michele Hynes
Science
Mrs. Hynes holds a Bachelor of Science in Biochemical Science from Harvard University. She currently teaches freshman and senior science.
Mrs. Lauren Backes
Math
Mrs. Backes holds a Bachelor of Science in Math Education and a Master of Education in Secondary Mathematics from Kennesaw State University. She currently teaches sophomore, junior, and senior math.
Mrs. Mary Silloway
Literature
Mrs. Silloway holds a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Georgia and a Juris Doctorate from Mercer University. She currently teaches junior and senior literature.
Mr. Robert Corner
Athletics Director, History, and PE
Mr. Corner holds of Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Kennesaw State University and a Master of Arts in Catholic Studies from the Franciscan University of Steubenville. He currently serves as Athletics Director and teaches freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior history as well as freshman PE.
Ms. Erika Fasselt
Drama and Literature
Ms. Fasselt holds of Bachelor of Science in Education from from Kennesaw State University. She currently teaches freshman and sophomore literature and sophomore, junior, and senior drama.
Ms. Alyssa Montalbine
Science and Math
Ms. Montalbine holds of Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the University of Virginia, a Master of Science in Biomedical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology, and is a Master of Arts candidate in Bioethics at Emory University. She currently teaches sophomore and junior science as well as senior Statistics.
Mrs. Shanna Coulter
Art
Mrs. Coulter holds of Bachelor of Arts in Fine/Studio Arts and a Master of Arts in Teaching, Art Education from Kennesaw State University. She currently teaches freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior art.
